Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

Thursday checkin: sand tourney postponed

Sand tournament postponed until Nov. 2 They made that decision after this morning’s practice. They are still going to Molokai at the moment. Shoji will not. He has left for the mainland for recruiting. Wong had stayed behind after Long Beach match to do the same, he got back Tuesday. Magill not cleared to play. She was wearing a knee sleeve today. Waiting on doctor’s diagnosis.

Wednesday check-in: update on Molokai trip and horseshoes

They’re still working on whether they will go to Molokai Saturday or not. Molokai’s ‘Barn’ is one of the emergency shelters. As well as contingency for Sunday’s Horseshoes event. As for Magill’s MRI, nothing new other than not cleared to play yet. The light stuff like Tuesday practice OK.

Back to 6 a.m. practice, as it will be Wednesday and Thursday. Done around 8:15. They finish early on Tuesdays because of 9 a.m. classes for many. Magill was out for the most part.
