Here’s a shot of the new sand courts at UH during recent night practice. It was mentioned earlier this week that UH tweeted it had received a $100,000 pledge from the Murayama family for the sand program. It will be done in four installments, $25,000 over the next four years. The Portuguese Horseshoes event is rescheduled for Nov. 2, 2:30-6 p.m. at Hunakai Park. The goal is $70,000, $35,000 of that is in matching funds.

Team in the arena for a 10 a.m. practice. Pretty chilly. Warmed up with a game called ‘winners side’ Setters stay the same (Ah Mow=Santos on the winners court, Wong on the other). Three other players to a side. If the winners court wins the point, they stay. if not, the other team goes to the winners side and they rotate in other three-player teams. No blocking or serving.
