Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

She is enjoying semiretirement. have always found her to be refreshingly honest. very late arriving crowd. don’t think you’ll get much of a student presence. there’s Halloween stuff going on around campus. it’s 603 and maybe 50 people here.

Red-eye flight got in around 730 Thursday morning, after landing the flight attendant went through the usual disembark chatter then said, And we wish the UH women’s volleyball team good luck with their games this week. Nice applause throughout the cabin. Team practiced 6-8:15, mostly skill work. lifting this afternoon. They’ll have practice tomorrow afternoon and take the red-eye out to L.A. mentioned on previous thread, as expected Guinasso and Kahakai making the trip. Taylor was nominated for POW, gone UCI’s Pickrell from the Big West Greeley Freshman of the Week Hawai‘i outside hitter Kalei Greeley (Riverside, Calif./King HS) notched Big West Women’s Volleyball Freshman Player of the Week honors with a pair of double-digit kill performances.
