Hawaii wins 3-1 over Slovenian junior team

By Cindy Luis on May 23, 2015

The Rainbow Wahine seemed to be re-energized after a good night’s sleep, no bus ride and, for some, some time in the pool and sauna. The sauna’s here are very eye-opening to say the least. Coed and you can wear a towel but no other apparel, including bathing suits. Hawaii played well in winning 25-21, 25-15, 25-18, 22-25. In Set 4, Huff played OH and Anderson came in as libero. Adolpho and Long played for Slovenia. Team was down to […]

Saturday sleep-in and match this afternoon

By Cindy Luis on May 22, 2015

Team had a great time with the dinner at the Doppler winery restaurant. Beautiful place but unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy the 360 view because of the rain and darkness. As mentioned previously, think the players enjoyed dressing up for dinner. Rain is preventing them from doing the ropes course and the alpine slide, both which are closed due to the weather. It’s a bit chilly, in the upper 40s and 50s. supposed to clear up tomorrow. Been pretty […]

Hawaii picks up first Euro win 5-0 over Nova KBM Branik

By Cindy Luis on May 22, 2015

Hawaii defeats the Maribor club team Nova KBM Branik 25-17, 25-21, 25-23, 25-18, 15-11. They had an impressive comeback in Set 3, got down 9-1, tied it at 17 and it was tied all the way through 22. Tough serving by Magill made it 24-22 and Taylor put down the kill to end it 25-23. Now the reality. Maribor team was missing 5 players who are with the Slovenian senior national team and will play France in France Saturday. The […]

Tuesday: Wahine lose 0-4 to Italy

By Cindy Luis on May 19, 2015

Hawaii had its moments but lost 25-18, 25-17, 25-17, 25-20. They decided to play a minimum of four sets. When the Wahine could pass, they could run their offense. Think people will be pleased by Maglio’s development. There weren’t a lot of hitting errors on either side. No official stats kept, as mentioned on previous thread, scoreboard was the manual flip kind. Italy didn’t wear numbers on their jerseys and I never got a roster of them. By my count, […]
