By Stephen Tsai on August 1, 2011

With Dr. Andrew Nichols’ promotion to director of UH student health services, the Warriors are in search of a new team physician. A decision should be reached soon. In the interim, Nichols is overseeing the physical examinations for players on the training-camp roster. Nichols has been a good match for the Warriors — helpful but not intrusive; with both bedside and sideline manners. His calm demeanor is useful for a player suffering injuries during the chaotic situation of the game. […]

Goodwill agent

The thing about composites is that people with similar characteristics believe they are the character. It is why various agents — Leigh Steinberg, Drew Rosenhaus and Gary Wichard — have been credited with being the real-life Jerry Maguire, the sports agent with a conscience. Media daze

LAS VEGAS — The Warriors are the guests of two parties — the Mountain West media preview, which ends today, and the WAC’s version, which opens tonight. UH media relations director Derek Inouchi has been distributing four-page brochures featuring quarterback Bryant Moniz and linebacker Corey Paredes. * * * * * MWC commissioner Craig Thompson told reporters today that expansion has not been mentioned in the AD or presidents’ meetings. That apparently quells the rumors of Utah State jumping to […]

Former Warrior offensive lineman Wayne Hunter has reached agreement on a four-year contract with the New York Jets, according to agent Kenny Zuckerman. Reports out of New York claim Hunter’s total deal is worth a little under $14 million. In such contracts, the usual guaranteed amount — signing bonus — is about $5 million. * * * * * When the music finally stopped, three undrafted former Warriors landed NFL free-agent contracts. Today, wideout Rodney Bradley and safety Mana Silva […]
