Sunday musings

By Stephen Tsai on August 7, 2011

It’s Sunday, which means there’s no football practice today. * * * * * * Imagine it’s April 12, and you’re about to work on your taxes, when the computer crashes. The Warriors feel your angst. Three days before the start of training camp, the Warriors were notified they could not use the mobile high-rise platform to shoot videos of practice. The warning came from the manufacturer, a result of last year’s fatal platform accident during a Notre Dame practice. […]

He joins Aug. 22. * * * * * After yesterday’s practice, […]

"Finish"

By Stephen Tsai on August 5, 2011

“Finish,” as in finish first, is quarterback Bryant Moniz’s motto (and motivation): * * * * * There doesn’t appear to be concern about the tweaks suffered by starters Darius Bright (turf toe), Miah Ostrowski (hamstring) and Aaron Brown. All should be good to go soon. Here’s Brown (left) with Corey Paredes and defensive coordinator Dave Aranda: * * * * * Maybe it’s the hair cut. But observers marveled at long-snapper Luke Ingram’s new muscular look: * * * […]

Warriors kick off first practice

By Stephen Tsai on August 4, 2011

The Warriors opened training camp yesterday, and the first practice is this afternoon. Here are some key areas: 1. The offensive line: The preference is to be four-deep in training camp, which equates to 20 players. But to address other needs, there are 18 o-linemen in camp, and one of them (Austin Hansen) won’t be available to play until the bowl game. At lesat two might be redshirt candidates. That leaves an area three-deep across, which usually would be sufficient […]
