Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

First look at the Sand Bows next month. The Rainbow Wahine host Cal Poly in a pair of afternoon exhibition duals matches on Saturday, Nov. 17. Senior hitter McKenna Granato put down 12 kills and picked up her 100th career ace as Hawaii swept UC Riverside, 25-16, 25-17, 25-22 in a Big West volleyball match tonight in Riverside, Calif. Hawaii’s RPI dropped three spots to 73 in Monday’s NCAA women’s volleyball Ratings Percentage Index. The Rainbow Wahine (11-6, 7-1 Big West) had moved up to 70 last week after opening at 100 in the inaugural computer-generated rankings.
