Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

sorry, had some computer issues and then didn’t get a final box until late. agree with most of the comments i’ve managed to read. not a good night for UH at all. you could see that from the beginning. Thanks to everyone who posted. Took longer than expected to get back home Hawaii senior Emily Hartong, who led the Rainbow Wahine to road wins over Long Beach State and UC Irvine last week, was named the Big West Volleyball Player of the Week for the third time this season. The All-American outside hitter led Hawaii in kills, digs and hitting percentage as the Wahine remained unbeaten in conference play at 4-0. She posted back-to-back double-doubles in the sweep of […]

Wahine up to 5th in poll, receive 4 votes

The Hawaii volleyball team, riding a 13-match winning streak, moved up a spot to No. 5 in the AVCA Coaches Top 25 Division I poll announced today. The Rainbow Wahine (15-1) received four first-place votes, one more than last week’s poll. The top five teams all moved up one place, beginning with new No. 1 USC (14-1, 47 votes).
