Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

UCSB tops Hawaii in 5 on Night 2

Junior opposite Brook Sedore put down a team-high 15 kills and junior middle Taylor Averill added 14 but it was not enough as No. 11 Hawaii fell to No. UC Santa Barbara for a seventh straight time  tonight in Santa Barbara, Calif. Aloha to Ann Miller

Annie’s last day is tomorrow, Jan. 31. She has been an outstanding journalist and wonderful colleague since I came to Hawaii in 1981. She started at the Advertiser the year before in 1980.
