Wednesday checkin: latest on Burns (Updated)

By Cindy Luis on August 19, 2015

For those who missed the previous thread Burns injured her right hand during practice yesterday going up on a routine block during afternoon practice. Appears to be the base of her right ring finger but you never know how far down the hand it could be. Don’t want to speculate. She is seeing a specialist this afternoon, is doing some workouts in the training room that don’t involve her hand. We’ll know more this afternoon. Team picture is prior to […]

Practice was a little later this morning and it will be a little earlier this afternoon since team will be headed out for their service project. Not sure exactly where but it has to do with feeding the less fortunate. They were going to take the afternoon off but added this practice, probably to get Mitchem more reps. for […]

Day 4 with the Wahine, video short

By Cindy Luis on August 13, 2015

Short video from Wednesday with Magill and Burns Last day of 2 practices for this week. They’re going only afternoon Friday and only morning on Saturday. Mitchem scheduled to arrive Saturday afternoon and, if paper work has gone through, she’ll be cleared to practice Monday. Magill missed the afternoon session. Wasn’t feeling well. Freshmen seem to be integrating well and during mini scrimmages are active participants in the offense and defense. Still some glitches as they learn serve-receive patterns and […]

Day 3 with the Wahine

By Cindy Luis on August 13, 2015

Dropping by Wednesday’s second session was quite the coaching circle for Shoji. His coach at UCSB Dennis Berg is in from Santa Barbara, mostly for a couple of funerals. He is the father of Lindsey and Erin Berg. Shoji’s assistant from the early 80s also here for a few weeks. Charlie Brande, former OCC and UCI coach. Didn’t realize that he was Jeff Hall’s coach at Orange Coast. And former Punahou coach Peter Balding was there. Shoji coached Balding on […]
