By Cindy Luis on September 19, 2015

Team has the NCAA-mandated day off today so I’m taking one as well. Wanted to carry over a discussion from last thread regarding the comment about the “set” by Higgins that went over for a kill. as someone said, she wouldn’t get away with that against other teams. And the other comment: “higgins setting that ball on the other side of the net sure was hehehaha funny. what is that? an ‘assist kill’ or a set kill? then again higgins […]

Friday checkin: Hall, Top 25 scores (early)

By Cindy Luis on September 18, 2015

Sorry to be MIA until now. was gone all morning. Just to end the speculation, Hall was arrested Monday night on a suspected DUI. it will be in tomorrow’s paper. The optimum word being SUSPECTED As I said last night, it was a personnel issue handled by the AD. Today Matlin said: “I followed the (Collective Bargaining Agreement) and then made the decision.” Just a reminder. When you post, you have agreed to the S-A’s terms of agreement which are […]

Hall on ‘administrative leave’ for 2 matches

By Cindy Luis on September 17, 2015

Don’t know the whole story other than Jeff Hall has been put on administrative leave for two matches this weekend. The AD won’t comment because it is a personnel matter but in a release by UH, Maitlin said “Hall is taking full responsibility for this situation. … I consider this matter closed and therefore have no further comment.’ Shoji declined to comment I honestly don’t have any idea what happened other than was told it has nothing to do with […]

A new day Thursday

By Cindy Luis on September 17, 2015

Good morning. quite the discussion yesterday. Maybe some unfair finger-pointing but the bottom line: It was Huff’s decision. Understandable when looking at trying to juggle both sports in the same semester, something she didn’t have to do last year when able to concentrate on one sport at a time. Timing wasn’t very good for sure. I wasn’t able to talk to Beeman yesterday and will try to do so today.

Huff leaving Wahine volleyball program

By Cindy Luis on September 16, 2015

Megan Huff will leave volleyball and concentrate on basketball as of today 9-16. Release from UH coming soon. Shoji said he’d have a comment soon. A surprise and not. Only because she had worked so hard the past five weeks and over the summer. But she was going to have to start sharing time with basketball practices, from what I understand, and is limited to 20 hours a week of practice total. So it was going got be a hard […]

Call the Coach, Taylor named ESPNW POW

By Cindy Luis on September 16, 2015

Station kept having ‘technical difficulties’ so they lost probably 20-25 minutes of the show on air. They kept doing the show so if anyone who was at the Pagoda wants to add to this please do. Shoji talked about a lot of things that we’ve discussed here such as how good the European trip was for a bonding experience, how the team grew closer when basically living in the arena during two-a-days, how the newcomers have blended in. He talked […]
