Recapping Junior hitter Colton Cowell put down 15 kills and top-seeded Hawaii used 10 aces to eliminate Lewis 25-15, 25-17, 30-32, 25-16 in today’s NCAA men’s volleyball semifinal at the Walter Pyramid at Long Beach State. Senior hitter Stijn van Tilburg and junior opposite Rado Parapunov added 11 kills apiece for the Warriors (28-2), setting a program record in a single-season win. Long Beach State senior TJ DeFalco was named the AVCA Player of the Year, his second in three seasons. He is the fourth player in Division I-II men’s history to win the honor twice. Congratulations to the Rainbow Warriors on their bounty of All-America selections. Hawaii senior hitter Stijn van Tilburg was named to the AVCA All-America first team for a third time and the top-ranked Rainbow Warriors had a program-record five players selected, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced today. Joining Van Tilburg on the 10-member first team were senior setter Joe Worsley, junior opposite Rado Parapunov and sophomore libero Gage Worsley. Hawaii men’s volleyball: Charlie Wade under investigation for possible misconduct

Some of you may have read the story from the Orange County Register that came out Wednesday on Charlie Wade being investigated for possible misconduct involving a female player over 20 years ago. The story has led to Long Beach State assistant Scott Touzinsky resigning from the 49ers staff so as not to be a distraction to the team. The allegations against Touzinsky have been proven.
