The man, the myth, the legend — Colt Brennan — attended today’s UH football practice. He also delivered an inspiring pre-practice speech to the Warriors. Brennan had been hospitalized for several months because of a blood clot in his spine. But he appears to be healthier. And the young Warriors, many of whom are at UH because they watched Brennan and company, were happy to meet the 2007 Heisman finalist.
There were mixed results for the Warriors’ fifth practice of training camp. Quarterbacks Jeremy Moussa, Chevan Cordeiro, Cole McDonald and Kolney Cassel took turns in situational and scrimmage-like sessions. Moussa, a freshman, directed the only scoring drive. The second-year freshman walk-on from Farrington played in a version of the West Coast offense as a Govs senior and learned the RPO (run-pass option) last year at UH. Competition has been kicked up a notch out at Cooke Field. UH, which no longer had a do-it-all leg maestro like Rigo Sanchez in 2017, posted a kickoff distance average of 57.7 yards, compared to 62.2 for opponents.
