Colt is in the house

Colt Brennan and Mouse Davis

The man, the myth, the legend — Colt Brennan — attended today’s UH football practice. He also delivered an inspiring pre-practice speech to the Warriors.

Brennan had been hospitalized for several months because of a blood clot in his spine. But he appears to be healthier. And the young Warriors, many of whom are at UH because they watched Brennan and company, were happy to meet the 2007 Heisman finalist.

Good to see Colt doing well these days….still makes me sad we aren’t all watching him tear it up for the Skins anymore

  3. orioles4eva August 2, 2018 8:47 am

Let me second that statement. Hoping for the best for Colt.

Great to see Colt healthy (I hope for a long time). He’s been through so much and only wish him the best. It’s awesome that these former players are able to come and inspire the new crew! GO BOWS! GO WARRIORS!

  5. H-Man August 2, 2018 9:20 am

Didn’t know he was sick. Blood clot in his spine. Sounds serious.
Glad to see he is better. Wishing him all the best.

Colt could diagnose defenses very quickly. I don’t know if it was all mental preparation or just pure instinct but he made the right play a large, large percentage of the time. Hard to do. Hawaii fans were so fortunate to get to witness that. Was incredible. Get well.

    #5:

Coltie has “blood clot in his spine”? since when? from auto accident?

  8. A-House August 2, 2018 9:50 am

there will be hundreds, maybe even thousands of UH players whom we will all come to endear our selves too

but in our household, there will be NONE who will replace Colt Brennan

it would have been awsome if SST could have “audioed” his speech for all of us to hear

he looks very good and we wish him only the best of health and happiness!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. A-House August 2, 2018 9:51 am

dang, mabit! how many vehicles do I have to verify????????

  10. A-House August 2, 2018 9:53 am

maybe a local TV sports team recorded him and will telecast it tonight!

  11. A-House August 2, 2018 9:54 am

any current QB showing Colt’s qualities?

I miss going to the Sugar Bowl — what an experience!

  12. Big Island Lava August 2, 2018 10:07 am

Seen Colt last month at the Honolulu Airport as he waited to catch his flight home to Big Island. He was very gracious and even allowed me to take a photo with him. He was walking around using walking aids as he was still being treated for his blood clot. Was ecstatic I had the opportunity to thank him personally for all he did for Hawai`i.

  13. Savich August 2, 2018 10:08 am

    Those were the years.

  14. Savich August 2, 2018 10:30 am

That was the year the team went to Georgia. He played well, but not enough. 90,000 seats in Georgia. Hawai’i has less seats.

  15. Da Punchbowl Kid August 2, 2018 11:31 am

We love Colt dearly. Happy to see he’s okay. He and Mouse used to rock the house. Good times.

    GO WARRIORS!!!

    Colt’s coaching at Konawaena.

  17. Paniolo August 2, 2018 12:45 pm

Hey Coach Rolo how about finding a position on your staff for Colt Brennan, one of Warrior football great quarterback?

  18. Bowwar August 2, 2018 12:46 pm

I wish him well…He captured the hearts of all Warrior fans! He could have gone to the NFL after his junior year, but elected to stay & take us to an undefeated season…Much Mahalos!

  19. wafan August 2, 2018 1:03 pm

    Huzzah, Colt!

  20. wafan August 2, 2018 1:03 pm

    Top 20, too!

  21. Ron August 2, 2018 1:12 pm

Colt sure made it fun. He is second to Izzy on my list of Hawaiian legends.

  22. Inyoface August 2, 2018 2:22 pm

    Who’s Izzy

  23. SteveM August 2, 2018 2:48 pm

Great to see Colt on the UH campus!
Much Aloha for the man who stayed in Hawaii for his senior year and led us to the Sugar Bowl.

  24. azwarrior22 August 2, 2018 4:02 pm

Colt was the man ! Let’s see which QBs step up.

    Go Warriors !!

  25. Maddog50 August 2, 2018 4:52 pm

Finished most of Bears preseason game. Dejon Allen played most of 3 quarters-aside from one play he played well in my opinion. Don’t know what his chances are with Bears but he can play in this league!

  26. kalua pig August 2, 2018 5:01 pm

i hope colt spit some fire on the team.

  27. pakipark August 2, 2018 5:53 pm

Great seeing Colt. Looks like he’s doing much better. Get well, be well, Godspeed, Colt.

  28. Warrior Dave August 2, 2018 6:34 pm

Colt will always be my favorite UH Warrior. Gave up the NFL to come back for his Sr. season and lead us to 12-0. Gave up a ton of money and gave up hos health to lead a dream season.

Sweet! So many good memories and football highs from Colt’s tenure as QB… and the beautiful poetry of the whole Warrior team that demonstrated the discipline of BELIEVE and IMUA!

  32. A-House August 3, 2018 6:52 am

    burro:

there is another Izzy whose bro also posts on this blog

fine, quiet gentleman until you get to know him — then he’ll open up!

    howzit, Izzy!!!!!!!!!!

  33. islandman August 3, 2018 6:53 am

CJ Hawthorne was a defensive back in 2006 and was switched to WR in 2007.

  34. A-House August 3, 2018 6:57 am

10 + years since the Sugar Bowl and Colt still has the young face we saw in 2006 and 2007

only the best for you, Colt!!!

his expertise and knowledge would be a huge asset to all the young QBs who attend UH and wants to master the Run ‘n Shoot — instincts may not be teachable, but explanation of his thought process in different situations will stay in QB’s minds

  35. Lurker#8 August 3, 2018 7:17 am

Thank you Colt for those fabulous memories.
    Wishing you the best!
You will always be in our hearts.

  36. Dennis Halloran August 3, 2018 9:01 am

Great to see Colt up and about. As a fellow Mater Dei Monarch, I have followed him since HS.
Blood Clots are not fun, I had a dozen of them removed from my lungs at UCLA in 2016 and it saved my life. Fortunately PTE surgery is curative and I am as good as new.

  37. burro sabio August 3, 2018 9:44 am

Mr. A-House, I know about that Izzy but I don’t think that person was referring to him. If he was talking about a legend in Washington state, then maybe!

  38. A-House August 3, 2018 9:50 am

    burro:

I was not aware that “our” Izzy was a legend — what did I miss? where was I when this legend was being created?

  39. A-House August 3, 2018 9:52 am

    “legend” and Bro:

MasaBoy and I were in the Silverdale area for 3 days before our journey to Alaska — land of clean air and HUMONGOUS, HUNGRY mosquitoes who feasted on me!!!!

  40. kama krab August 3, 2018 10:52 am

    Howzit Everybody,

Much Aloha for braddah Colt. Live well braddah.

  41. kama krab August 3, 2018 10:53 am

  42. A-House August 3, 2018 10:57 am
