After coming so close to knocking off then-No. 25 Washington in its season opener, Hawaii will look to break through against another Pac-12 team when it hosts Oregon State at Aloha Stadium. The Beavers (1-0), who are coming off a 29-14 win over Portland State, have won the last three matchups against the Rainbow Warriors. Hawaii’s last win against Oregon State came in a 23-17 victory in the 1999 Jeep Oahu Bowl. Kickoff is set for 4:39 p.m. For those […]
As I look at today’s Hawaii-Oregon State football matchup 6 1/2 hours before kickoff, one key to the outcome stands out above all others: The Beavers offensive front against Hawaii’s defense. UH linebacker Simon Poti recorded the Rainbow Warriors’ first sack of the season when he chased down Washington quarterback Jeff Lindquist for a 16-yard loss in the fourth quarter of UH’s opener. The third-down stop forced the seventh of the Huskies’ eight punts in the second half and Poti distributed the credit 11 ways. “We all count on each other,” said Poti, […]

It is a noble effort, spearheaded by honest, ardent UH supporters like Chris Hart, Don Murphy, Raymond Noh, Kurt Osaki, and “Mike from Waimanalo.” But to keep the momentum going, the organizers of the “UH People’s Athletic Fund” and athletic […]
