It was, of course, devastating for the Warriors to lose slotback John Ursua for the rest of the season because of a torn ACL. He was the leading receiver (7.8 catches per game), accounting for 30.9 percent of the Warriors’ 152 receptions. But after Ursua departed, the Warriors re-worked the game plan. Slotback John Ursua has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the football season. Ursua, a third-year sophomore, suffered the injury on the first play of the second quarter the past Saturday. Ursua is sixth nationally in receiving yards per game (111.2) and seventh in receptions (7.8 per game).

Yep, as you might have heard, sportscaster Mike Cherry is leaving KITV to work at a news station in New Hampshire. His last day in Hawaii is Oct. 23. Like most people from Maui, Cherry is a nice guy and hard worker. We wish him the best as Hawaii’s sportscasting landscape continues to change.

The Warriors capped a week of full practices with a lively 2-hour workout this morning. In the shake-it-up theme, the practice punctuated with an offense-versus-defense session during which quarterback Dru Brown led a 70-yard drive. Brown threw 4 yards to slotback John Ursua for the touchdown.
