Hawaii men’s volleyball: Rainbow Warriors preseason No. 1 in Big West

Hawaii, preseason No. 1 in the AVCA coaches poll, was the unanimous choice to win the Big West in 2020 as voted by the league’s coaches. The Warriors collected all six first-place votes and 36 points. UC Santa Barbara was in second place with 28 points, while two-time reigning national champion Long Beach State was third with 23 points. Hawaii senior Norene Iosia today was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America honorable mention team, one of 41 players so honored. Iosia, the Big West Player of the Year, played both setter and hitter when helping the Rainbow Wahine to their first conference title since 2016. Hawaii football: Craig Stutzmann, Andre Allen among finalists for FootballScoop assistant coach awards

Assistant coaches Craig Stutzmann (quarterbacks) and Andre Allen (wide receivers) of Hawaii have been named FootballScoop Coach of the Year finalists. Stutzmann is on a list of six finalists that also includes Steve Ensminger (LSU), Graham Harrell (USC), Jeff Lebby (UCF), Phil Longo (Noth Carolina) and Mike Yurcich (Ohio State). Hawaii football: Running back Dae Dae Hunter commits

The top running back from one of the nation’s top high school football teams has accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Hawaii. Daveon “Dae Dae” Hunter of Chandler (Ariz.) High said he will sign his national letter of intent Wednesday morning, the first day football prospects may put their binding commitments in writing. Congrats to Brooke Van Sickle, named to the Wisconsin regional all-tournament team. She was the only Wahine named. Also on the team: Molly Haggerty (MVP), Sydney Hilley and Dana Rettke, Wisconsin; Jazz Sweet and Lexi Sun, Nebraska; Hollan Hans, Texas A&M.
