San Diego State rolled up 326 rushing yards in overpowering Hawaii, 34-10, today at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. The Aztecs used two long scoring runs en route to a 28-0 advantages at the intermission. The Aztecs attempted only one pass in the second half — and it was intercepted by Quentin Frazier. Chevan Cordeiro threw for 410 yards and four touchdowns to boost Hawaii to a 39-33 victory over New Mexico at Aloha Stadium. Wyoming ran often and then ran away to a 31-7 victory over Hawaii at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, Wyo. The Cowboys’ ground game accounted for 281 of their 393 yards. Xazavian Valladay rushed 163 yards and Trey Smith gained 89 yards. They each scored two touchdowns. The Cowboys controlled the clock for 38 minutes, 15 seconds. Hawaii runs away to a 34-19 season-opening victory over Fresno State, amassing 324 rushing yards in Todd Graham’s debut as the Rainbow Warriors’ head coach. The Warriors departed today for the season opener against Fresno State, but not before head coach Todd Graham was presented with a symbolic koa lei. Hawaii island craftsman JefF Gomes completed the lei on Wednesday, then sent it by express delivery to Na Koa’s clubhouse. Fresno State announces starting QB for Hawaii football opener

During this morning’s Zoom session with reporters, Fresno State head coach Kalen DeBoer announced that Jake Haener would start at quarterback against Hawaii in Saturday’s season opener at Bulldog Stadium. Haener beat out Ben Wooldridge, who threw six passes in 2019. Haener is a junior who redshirted in 2019 after transferring from Washington.
