Comeback route for Anguay

It was 2,308 days ago — June 21, 2009 — when Samson Anguay made a verbal commitment to play for the Warriors. After wearing three different shirts — grayshirt, redshirt and medical shirt — enduring three knee injuries and earning a bachelor’s degree, Anguay continues to honor that commitment. Anguay, a slotback, has officially rejoined the Warriors after a medical hiatus and is competing in unsupervised workouts this summer. * * * * * Another day, another slide show:

Warrior assistant joins Humboldt’s staff

Bo Montgomery, a key but understated member of the UH coaching staff, has been hired as Humboldt State’s defensive line coach. Montgomery was the Warriors’ defensive quality coach. He also helped in recruiting. Montgomery is a Kealakehe High graduate who played at Weber State for two years before transferring to UH. He earned letters with the Warriors in 2008 and 2009. Tampa kicker/punter joins Warriors

The Florida-Hawaii pipeline is still in operation. Stephen Yaffe, a kicker/punter from Plant High in Tampa, has joined the Warriors as a walk-on. The left-footed Yaffe is 6 feet and 180 pounds. It was back to the classroom for media who cover UH football. Football referee George Gusman conducted his annual meeting on the new NCAA rules this morning at the Saint Louis School Alumni Clubhouse. Reporters and two UH coaches attended.
