Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

Today was the deadline for applications to fill the vacancy left by Ah Mow-Santos’ departure. Shoji said there will be an announcement next week. Three players with Hawaii ties were among 19 named to the U.S. men’s junior national volleyball training team on Tuesday. Selected were current University of Hawaii setter Joe Worsley, incoming Warrior hitter Austin Matautia (Moanalua) and libero Kelsey Yogi (Punahou), an incoming freshman at Cal State Northridge. Big West adding men’s volleyball in 2018

As expected, it will be interesting to see what happens with the MPSF From the Big West: The Big West Conference today announced the creation of a men’s volleyball championship beginning in 2018, becoming the first NCAA Division I conference to sponsor competition in the sport.
