Fine tuning

By Stephen Tsai on April 23, 2018

Spring training was going to be a learning process for the Warriors. The Warriors have three returning starters for the resurrected run-and-shoot offense. But quarterbacks Cole McDonald and Jeremy Moussa have impressed in spring training, wideout Devan Stubblefield appears to be back in top form, and slotback Cedric Byrd has created a buzz. While the passing game has shown effort and development, the focus is now on strengthening the connections. “You’ve got to tighten the nuts all the time,” Rolovich […]

UH is victim of system failure

By Stephen Tsai on April 22, 2018

By Stephen Tsai on April 21, 2018

One of the most joyous moments of the day — heck, of spring training — was wideot Devan Stubblefield’s touchdown during the scrimmage-like session. On third-and-10, Stubblefield, who is aligned on the right side, runs a snag route (mini curl). Stubblefield catches the pass from Cole McDonald, spins away from two defenders and finds the end zone. At least we think he did. After he crossed the plane, the entire offense surrounded Stubblefield in celebration. “That was a big play […]

Spring practice No. 11

By Stephen Tsai on April 19, 2018

Another spring football practice, another rainy, rainy day. This time, it was the defense’s turn to shine: > In the team session, cornerback Rojesterman Farris II deflected a pass away from wideout Marcus Armstrong-Brown, and later scored on a pick-6. > In a winner-take-all session, defensive end Kaimana Padello and linebacker Jahlani Tavai each made sacks as the defense stopped the offense. That meant … the offensive players had to run gassers after practice. > The deepest unit appears to […]
