Football pool

By Stephen Tsai on August 7, 2018

“It’s a tradition,” said coach Nick Rolovich, kicking off the annual pool day for the Warriors. A little bit of history: > Pool day started as a reward during the JJ era. > Pool days are pre-planned, but to make it entertaining, sometimes there would be a “reward” competition. If a kicker converted a field goal, say, then everyone got a pool day. Thing was, there were times when the kicker would miss. And the the competition would have to […]

The Warriors also improved on point-scoring kicks with Kekoa Sasaoka and Ryan Meskell converting on all of their field-goal attempts. After the practice, the players and fans were treated to shave ice.

Padello carries on in brother’s absence

By Brian McInnis on August 3, 2018

Hawaii football camp is important, no doubt. Jobs must be won, knowledge must be attained, discipline instilled for the battles to come. But some things take priority over that. On the eastern flank of the Big Island, Fissure 8 is pumping out lava unabated in a seismic event that has claimed more than 700 homes. The effects of that have been far-reaching, including to UH Manoa Lower Campus, and Cooke Field, specifically. KK Padello, a UH senior defensive lineman, is […]
