University of Hawaii athletics had a lucrative banner day Monday and none of its teams were playing. In the space of 20 minutes at the state Capitol, UH got a $5 million annual appropriation ($4.6 million for Manoa and $400,000 for UH Hilo) from the Legislature and the promise of a new $350 million stadium to replace soon-to-be 45-year old Aloha Stadium signed into law. The latest over/under betting line on regular season victories for the University of Hawaii football team this season is listed at 5½, according to BetOnline. UH will play a 13-game regular season. Hawaii men’s volleyball: Former Warrior Eyal Zimet new head beach coach at Tulane

Former Warrior hitter Eval Zimet is taking over as head beach coach at Tulane. He has spent the past four years as Dartmouth’s assistant indoor coach. Before his time at Dartmouth, Zimet served as both the co-head coach of the beach volleyball team and assistant coach of the indoor volleyball team for four years at the University of San Francisco.
