AP College Football Poll: Badgers and Broncos beaten for first time, drop in rankings

By Dave Reardon on October 20, 2019

Another week, and another top-10 unbeaten falls. This time it’s Wisconsin. After losing to 30-point-underdog Illinois, 24-23, the Badgers dropped from No. 6 to 13th overall and from third to 12th on my ballot in the Associated Press College Football Poll. Wisconsin lacked a knockout punch after never trailing and going ahead 20-7 early in the third quarter. If anything, it punched itself out. On its last four possessions, the Badgers missed a field goal, settled for a field goal […]

Hawaii soccer earns first result against Cal State Fullerton

By Brian McInnis on October 20, 2019

Sometimes, a draw feels like either a win or a loss, not something in between. Hawaii’s 1-1 tie with Cal State Fullerton at the Titans’ field Sunday most definitely was a win for the Rainbow Wahine. Thanks to Kayla Ryan’s goal to begin the second half — off of assists from Kayla Watanabe and Kelci Sumida to work the ball ahead, then to the middle — UH squared the match and held on tight through double overtime for their first […]

VIDEO: Fourth-quarter timeline of Hawaii football’s 56-26 loss to Air Force

By Brian McInnis on October 19, 2019

The fourth quarter started off so well for Hawaii on Saturday night. The Rainbow Warriors, for a moment, appeared poised to launch into full comeback mode against Air Force, opening the final period with a touchdown connection between Cole McDonald and JoJo Ward. >> PHOTO GALLERY: HAWAII VS. AIR FORCE But it was not to be. Air Force would score three more touchdowns and roll to 56-26 road win — dealing UH its first defeat at home in a 4-3 (1-2 […]

Hawaii football gets rolled at home by Air Force

By Warrior World on October 19, 2019

For the second consecutive week the University of Hawaii knocked the opponent’s starting quarterback out of the game only to have the backup deliver the knockout blow. Second-string signal-caller Michael Schmidt didn’t miss a beat when he came in for fallen teammate Donald Hammond III to lead the Air Force Academy to an easy 56-26 win that was punctuated by a 92-yard interception return for a touchdown on a low Cole McDonald pass that was kicked up in the air […]

Hawaii Football Throwbacks: Air Force

By Brian McInnis on October 19, 2019

Today’s potentially pivotal Mountain West matchup between Hawaii and Air Force could be the latest in a series of close battles between the Rainbow Warriors and the Falcons throughout their history, which stretches back to 1966. Nine times in a 21-game series have UH and the AFA played within a touchdown of each other. In today’s edition of the Throwbacks, we’re focusing on one of those typical nail-biters for the Kuter Trophy — Nov. 26, 1988. The Rainbow Warriors were charmed […]

Hawaii baseball: Armed and ready

By Stephen Tsai on October 19, 2019

There are a lot of things to take away from last night’s 15-inning exhibition between the Hawaii and Air Force baseball teams. The Rainbow Warriors won, 12-7, in a pitchers’ showcase skewed by nine runs in the 13th inning — five by UH, five by AFA. Some thoughts: > The ‘Bows have a lot of pitching depth. “We’ve been throwing strikes all fall,” head coach Mike Trapasso said. Of the scrimmage, “13 of our 15 guys threw well,” Trapasso said, […]
