It was a busy morning at the Ching Athletic Complex today. The women’s volleyball, track and field, men’s golf and, of course, the football team worked out on the artificial surface and at the cross-training area. Clearing the bar for the first time in the outdoor season was the first step for Rainbow Wahine freshman Lily Lowe. Once that was out of the way, Lowe continued her ascent to win the high jump at the Rainbow Relays on Saturday at UH’s Ching Complex. Talks are under way to extend the contract of University of Hawaii softball coach Bob Coolen, athletic director David Matlin said Thursday. With a break in the Rainbow Wahine schedule, Matlin said he met this week with Coolen — whose current deal expires this summer — to discuss a multi-year contract. “I think the intentions on both sides are there so we just have to get some details ironed out and go from there,” Matlin said.
