It was Colton Cowell’s time to rise and shine. Hawaii’s lone local product gave the raucous home crowd reason after reason to get on its feet and stay there on Friday night. Hawaii men’s basketball: Graduate manager joining the Spurs

Garrett Jackson, who served as a graduate manager for the Rainbow Warriors this season, has been selected for an internship with the San Antonio Spurs’ video department. Jackson had multiple roles for the ‘Bows, including video analysis, scouting, recruiting, practice preparation, player development and nutrition coordinator. UH coach Eran Ganot was an assistant at Saint Mary’s when Jackson was a forward for the Gaels. Jackson’s departure was announced at the UH banquet yesterday. Hawaii beach volleyball: Norene Iosia joins SandBows

Now that spring indoor practice is done, Rainbow Wahine rising senior setter Norene Iosia will join the Hawaii beach volleyball team officially as of today. She was on the beach team for a bit in 2017, going 10-3 with Hannah Zalopany between March 10 and April 2. Hawaii has its inaugural “Alumnae Salute” exhibition starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. The SandBows then go for their fourth consecutive conference title at the Big West tournament April 26-27 at Zuma Beach, Calif.

As of noon on Wednesday, about 7,100 ticket packages had been sold for the Big West men’s volleyball tournament Thursday through Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center, according to Hawaii athletic director David Matlin. If you wanted to buy tickets for UH’s semifinal match Friday (and possible title game appearance Saturday), you had to buy the complete tourney package (including first-round games Thursday that do not feature the host team). The NCAA’s evaluation period for football prospects began this week.
