Hey Hawaii basketball fans, I figured it’s time to dip back into the realm of basketball blogging. In recent weeks I had to take a leave of absence for family reasons. But I’m back now! (At least in a limited capacity.) First and foremost, today was a momentous day in the UH basketball office. Team secretary Bobbie Omoto retired after 20-plus years with the athletics department, helping men’s basketball specifically. Bobbie was a constant through numerous regime changes and hundreds […]
It’s looking increasingly likely that UH assistant Chris Acker is taking a position at Boise State.
Outside shooting came and went for the Hawaii basketball team in 2016-17. Its ho-hum 32.5 percent team accuracy on 3-pointers was sixth among nine Big West Conference members, and was especially felt at times given that UH runs a four-out offense. The Rainbow Warriors hope their latest addition will make them a touch more deadly in that regard. Riverside Community College 6-foot-4 wing Brandon Thomas, the younger brother of UH senior forward Mike Thomas, was made official by UH on […]
Yuba College point guard Jaaron Stallworth could soon be Hawaii’s first commit of the spring.
Gonzaga transfer Bryan Alberts, a 6-foot-5 guard, is the latest player to be courted in person at the Manoa campus by Hawaii basketball this spring signing period. Word is he arrived today. Alberts is a tantalizing prospect, given he has size, played on a great team (the Bulldogs, in case you forgot, were the national runners-up) and is the rare graduate transfer to have two years of immediate eligibility. Sounds like he has a planned visit to Long Beach State […]
UH basketball is making a run at Long Beach Poly big man Myles Johnson.
So, to state the obvious, it hasn’t been a gangbusters start to the spring signing period for the Hawaii basketball team. There have been no official announcements yet (the period began on April 12 and runs through May 17), nor any known commitments — although it sounds like the Rainbow Warriors might be close to something with Finnish point guard Edon Maxhuni. Two of the three unsigned players UH brought in this period are off the board to other teams — […]
