Bows open full practices

By Brian McInnis on September 29, 2017

Continuity was the word of the day as the Hawaii basketball team opened the first of 30 full practices before its Nov. 10 season opener. The Rainbow Warriors are certainly not identical to last year’s 14-16 (8-8 Big West) squad. But compared to the previous offseason — when basically the entire roster was replaced — the carryover feels substantial. All 14 players were present for the offseason workout program. “We’re a little further along than we were at this point […]

By Brian McInnis on September 26, 2017

The Rainbow Warrior basketball team suited up together for the first time on Monday. But don’t get too excited — it was just for the media, and full practices haven’t even started yet. That comes Friday. All 14 ‘Bows (plus coaching staff) made themselves available in uniform. Here’s the team by general position — point/combo guards, wings, and bigs. ——————— On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Clippers opened preseason training camp at the Stan Sheriff Center. The UH coaching staff and about […]

By Brian McInnis on September 12, 2017

Individual tickets are $125 while full tables may be purchased for $1,500. Last year’s event featured a stylish setup on the floor of the arena, and a stage for players and […]

Full schedule released

By Brian McInnis on August 21, 2017

When Hawaii released its full 2017-18 men’s basketball schedule today, there were only a few (four, to be exact) games that hadn’t been announced or reported anywhere. Well, if you were holding out hope that those well-kept secrets were a Power Five juggernaut … sorry. Not this year. Behind Door No. 1 … Adams State. The Grizzlies, who you may not have heard of, are a Division II team from Colorado and were already going to be in town to […]

No Bluff: It’s UAPB again

By Brian McInnis on August 18, 2017

Hawaii will open its 2017-18 season against — you guessed it — Arkansas-Pine Bluff. It’ll be Nov. 10 at the Stan Sheriff Center. The breaking news item on it is here. UH released the order of the Rainbow Classic games today, following a field release by Troy last week. While North Dakota and Troy, NCAA Tournament teams both in 2017, lack in name value, they should be serviceable entries to what the Rainbow Classic is these days. Pine Bluff, well … […]
