Tavai invited to Combine; Warriors add DL, DB

Former UH linebacker Jahlani Tavai said he has been invited to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine in March. Top officials — general managers, personnel directors, coaches — will be evaluating the participants in the invitation-only event in Indianapolis. Tavai, whose senior season was shortened because of a shoulder injury, is now physically fit. He has been training in San Diego. It was a nice gesture for UH to recognize Australia Day before last night’s basketball game. Of the 82 international players on 2018-2019 UH rosters, 14 are from Australia. That’s second to Canada (22) in the number of international players represented from a foreign country. Warriors on the recruiting trail

Deep in the heart of Texas, UH coach Nick Rolovich is looking to fill some of the remaining spots of the 2019 recruiting class. There are about four assistant coaches working the islands, with the rest on the mainland. Defensive coordinator Corey Batoon has shuttled between California and Arizona. Coaches will be back in town this this Friday for the second weekend ahead of the Feb. 6 signing period.
