Warrior Beat: Tuesday tune-up for Hawaii football players

Hawaii football QB Cole McDonald on Maxwell Award watch list

Hawaii quarterback Cole McDonald has drawn the attention of the Maxwell Football Club. McDonald is one of 80 on the Maxwell Award Watch List for the college football player of the year. Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, a Saint Louis School graduate, was the 2018 winner. In 2018, his first as a UH starting quarterback, McDonald threw for 3,875 yards (eighth most among NCAAA passers) and 36 touchdowns (sixth). Hawaii football: Defensive backs put in extra work

The Hawaii football team’s defensive backs had their own player-run workouts this morning at the grass practice field. They worked on footwork, hip movements and identifying routes. Private service for Hawaii football’s Scheyenne Sanitoa

A private memorial service will be held this evening for Hawaii football linebacker Scheyenne Sanitoa. Sanitoa died last week. He was 21. Another memorial is planned for later in Las Vegas, where many of his family members live. Hawaii athletics: UH benefits from $350M for future stadium plus $5M appropriation

University of Hawaii athletics had a lucrative banner day Monday and none of its teams were playing. In the space of 20 minutes at the state Capitol, UH got a $5 million annual appropriation ($4.6 million for Manoa and $400,000 for UH Hilo) from the Legislature and the promise of a new $350 million stadium to replace soon-to-be 45-year old Aloha Stadium signed into law. The latest over/under betting line on regular season victories for the University of Hawaii football team this season is listed at 5½, according to BetOnline. UH will play a 13-game regular season.
