The Paradise Classic ended the way it started for the Hawaii softball team. With a lopsided win over Northern Colorado. In between, the Rainbow Wahine took their lumps from Memphis and Iowa State, the latter of which went on to win the four-team tournament on Saturday afternoon, as they worked through new roles and responsibilities. Hawaii men’s basketball: Former UH great Carl English retires

At long last, Carl English is calling it a career. The 39-year-old English, one of the best players in Hawaii basketball history, had enjoyed a resurgence in his native Canada in the twilight of his career. Playing for his hometown St. John’s Edge in the National Basketball League, he’d been a league MVP as recently as two years ago, when he was still scoring points in bunches. Joy was hard to come by in 2019 for the Hawaii baseball team. Injuries and losses mounted in equal measure for the Rainbow Warriors, who came apart down the stretch to tie at the bottom of the Big West with two other teams.
