Hawaii men’s basketball: Eran Ganot makes return ahead of Big West play

Just before the midpoint of the 2019-20 season — and the start of Big West Conference play — Hawaii basketball coach Eran Ganot has officially returned from his medical leave. As Stephen Tsai notes, he stepped away for 51 days, although he’d made increasingly frequent appearances in recent weeks. The specifics of his condition were not disclosed. Just as the 2019 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic tipped off, the 2020 edition of the field was revealed. The 12th edition of the ESPN-run tournament features two past DHC champions (Oklahoma and San Diego State), two more past visitors (Saint Mary’s and Western Michigan), three first-timers (Temple, Arizona State, Seattle University) and the host (Hawaii).
