Since the rally-scoring era began in 2001, the AVCA made two significant changes to its D1 All-America teams for women’s volleyball. In 2002, it inaugurated the D1 Third Team All-America. Each of the three teams (First Team All-America, Second Team All-America, and Third Team All-America) is comprised of 14 athletes.

In 2003, in addition to these, the AVCA introduced the D1 Honorable Mention All-America.

During the rally-scoring era, without exception, at least one Rainbow Wahine has been chosen an AVCA All-American. Sad to say, unless the Women of Manoa receive an at-large bid to the Big Dance, another streak will end for Na Wahine when the selections are announced for the 38th AVCA Division I All-America Teams for women’s volleyball.

In final poll, wahine could climb around RPI 39 but IMO, wahines current performance is top 25 due to magnificent seven, two top back row diggers, pinch service point specialist (Gong), pinching blocker (Skyler), etc. To reach next milestone, sweet sixteen, wahine still need to improve one step further in blocking as most blockers are undersize: If blocking is broken down into two steps, 1) timing roof step up. OK. 2) Need to improve the few milli seconds acrobat in air, after elevated to the top of roof: 2a) adjust the angle of palm (including fingers) to reflect ball into court or hitter or away from diggers. 2b) swing the hand to encounter the hitting lane. This is important for all blockers, but specially, for undersize blockers as Natasha’s presence directs hitting traffic into them. Keep hopes strong and practice hard. Wish, wahines could evade top 10 in first two rounds.

She would alter shots.

You can’t get too high after a victory.

Purdue football lost the next week after upsetting Ohio State.

When Hawaii “upset” Cal-Poly, their attitude should have been that they were supposed to win that game. Hawaii is the team with the long history of success.

Sad to say, but should Na Wahine fail to receive an at-large bid to the 2018 Big Dance, it is more than likely that none of UH’s outstanding All-Big West athletes will make the grade for the 38th annual AVCA Division I All-America Teams for women’s volleyball. (Personally I am hoping Tita Akiu is not overlooked as an Honorable Mention.)

From my research , this recruiting class may be one of the best ever we have ever seen in a long time. We are getting a top notch Canadian and Swedish foreigner since Mags and Angelica (yup Coach Angelica)
The Louisiana athlete does remind me a lot of former Olympian Danielle Scott and Riley from Ohio is super solid. With our local Braelyn Akana( a mix of Robins/Akana athleticism) coming in and the host of experienced or “hungry to prove themselves” returnees coming back I just can’t wait til August 2019. I just can bet you Coach Robyn and Staff can’t wait to reveal their 1st Recuiting Class also!

I think it is because they played with their hearts and worked hard. Who would know how it would be if we had played the first two teams. The team got better and better every week. We saw them struggle and we saw them celebrate. Their sisterhood was strong this year. Mahalo to Coach Robyn and the other coaches for a great season and to the little team that could.
