The NIT is not the same as the NIVC
The NIT used to be the premier tournament
34. maybe greedy but they’re trying to get it off the ground, need to make some money somehow.
my thought, as expressed yesterday, this would not be good for non-power conferences.
It gives the NCAA selection committee a reason to take fewer from the small conferences
IMHO
Agree about that it’s beneath the program.

UH Men’s basketball and other schools go to the NIT, if they have a chance.

That nivc tournament is beneath this program IMO doubt usc/ucla would go there and the wahine have the same history.

The NIVC seems to be a little greedy. I think they have priced themselves out of making their tournament worthwhile. Thank you Islandman for the data.

The difference between NCAA & NIVC is comparable to you waiting for Punahou to award you a full ride scholarship to their school vs. you paying your way to a public high school.

25… One reason could be UH has to pay the first $15.000 for any travel and provide a financial guarantee to the NIVC, which UH may be able to cover. Something like that.
