To place a historical context on all of this, Aloha Stadium deal was done just on the advent of KS becoming extremely wealthy, eg leasehold conversion placed tens of millions directly into the former KSBE coffers. KS has a very sophisticated investment division run by a local gal, who formerly ran the U of Michigan endowment, and is double blue ( someone who has both an undergrad and graduated degree from boola U). My point to all of this, is if there is some form of legitimate profit say for a Stadium deal, KSBE has already probably run some modeling to ascertain the numbers on such a project.

I think if KS were gonna kokua, something has to be in it for what they stand for, partially meaning the students past present and future.

so how can football, a stadium, and perhaps a parcel of land, or straight up donation help or have value to KS…perhaps this is the question. the answer can only come from UH. what can UH a state school do or offer to hook up with a private school or entity with a race preference/requirement.

let’s look at it this way,,,,
Oregon has a Knight, but we have a Bishop

While not doubt there are some high net individuals, most did not attend UH, and have only marginal relationships with the program. These are large assumptions to make, especially when it has to do with someone else paying something, it is what my mom would call ” mahaoe”.

Ironically, the Kamehameha schools has an endowment in the 15 billion plus range. They hold about 1/3 of their portfolio in real estate, much of it undervalued, since the last accurate assessments were done in the late 1990s. On a per capita basis, the KS endowment, is larger than Harvards or boola U. They in fact, if the financials made sense, and trust obligation meet, could pull together a stadium deal out of pocket without even 3rd party financing. Now, certainly these have a very specific mission, but in terms of assets much more powerful than the place near date street.
