“I’m giving up my tuition to play football,” Gomes acknowledged.

He didn’t have to give up his tuition to play football, he just had to take Engineering classes. Unless he is saying that the Engineering classes were to hard to study for AND play football at the same time. But then he said that he still plans on taking the required Engineering classes, which doesn’t make sense.

How do you get an Engineering scholarship in the first place. You must be one smart person to get one of those.

My mother-in-law comes tonight and my wife’s aunt, uncle, and cousin will also be staying with us next week.

Gomes has completed 2 years at UH, and in the first 2 years engineering students mainly take core classes from a variety of departments. However, it seems that Gomes did *not* take those classes and instead has taken mostly Hawaiian Studies classes. The only way he could have significantly more Hawaiian Studies classes instead of classes that apply to Engineering is to avoid taking the math/science classes required for Engineering students.

So, he got a scholarship from the Engineering department but he wasn’t taking classes that applied to engineering degrees. When you consider that Engineering students take the standard English/History/Humanities classes in their first 2 years, and those classes apply to Hawaiian Studies also, the classes he has to have skipped are all the technical classes.

Sad to hear about Jordan Gomes’ scholarship. Was there difficulty with the availability of engineering classes for him?

Hopefully Lametrius Davis’ head will be in the game this week.

Same with Kamalu Umu….

…so much of the game performance is “mental”

Come on Warriors!

IS IT SATURDAY YET???

and yes again, the luxury boxes and other elite accomodations need to be in place.

Watching the Wyoming/Air Force game last week at Laramie, they showed a segment of the new luxury suites at their stadium. pretty darn sweet, and even sweeter when November rolls in to wyoming that time of year.

The biggest problem for the Cotton Bowl was that they played in an outdoor stadium and the weather in Dallas in January could be horrible. However, the Cotton Bowl game has solved this by moving the bowl game from the Cotton Bowl to the Cowboys Stadium–an indoors stadium.

It will be weird for the “Cotton Bowl” to not be played in the Cotton Bowl. But stadiums with tons of luxury boxes and other amenities make tons of money more than other stadiums.

I’ve seen a good proposal posted on the blog a couple of times about having a season-opening double-header at Aloha Stadium to get an extra week for the season. Trouble is, Aloha Stadium doesn’t have the luxury boxes and seating capability that NFL-type stadiums have…so, if the NCAA wanted to approve a special season-opening game, they would put it in an NFL-type stadium in a major TV market instead of Hawaii.
