Warriors earn NCAA berth; Bucs draft Iosefa

For the first time since 2002, the volleyball Warriors are heading to the NCAA tournament.

OK, technically it’s a play-in match, against Penn State on Tuesday at Stanford, but the Warriors weren’t worried about the particulars. After losing to Pepperdine in the MPSF semis on Thursday, the Warriors still had enough credits to beat out the Waves for an at-large berth.

The Warriors celebrated the invitation with thunderous applause. Soon after, coach Charlie Wade gave an emotional address to the team.

Wade then went to scout a tournament. Recruiting never stops

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Joey Iosefa in the seventh round.

    Good morning Tsaikos!

YES!!! I’m so stoked! My boy’s made the tournament. Wish I could be there.

ST – will the redshirts be able to attend?

Congrats to the men’s VB team. Let’s hope they can rekindle their mojo and play at the high level they displayed earlier in the season. At least they won’t be jet lagged from travel for the next phase.

Spring football seemed unusually quiet, almost a non event. This feels different from pervious years. I wish the team the best hope coach Chow can redeem himself. But even if he does it still feels like he is just too conservative for my tastes, both in the teams style of play and the style of promoting the team. No buzz on the field, no buzz off the field, no buzz to be found anywhere. I hope we have a winning season and of we do it will make it all more enjoyable. But can’t we add a little spice please? I am getting tired of the same diet of plain oatmeal.

What a relief, I think men’s volleyball has not yet been tainted like some of the bigger sports. I hope the men take advantage of this opportunity, I like the bracket they are in. Go Bows.

#8, Wow, so who do we root for when the Bucs play Tennessee and Mariota? Though the feature match up will be Winston and Mariota.

  12. Ipu Man May 2, 2015 12:19 pm

All righty, Joey! Now we can cheer for both the bucks and the Titans.
I hear they play each other in their first game this fall, is that true?

  24. oneseason May 2, 2015 2:08 pm

To whom it may concern … “Warriors earn NCAA berth” is a much better story title than “UH awarded at-large berth in NCAA men’s volleyball”

Nikko Taylor might not get to UH after all…….since KT getting mostly NT reps today.

KT definitely slimmed down from last season……but apparently now gonna have to bulk again.

  26. Da Punchbowl Kid May 2, 2015 2:18 pm

    WARR-IORS!!! WARR-IORS!!! WARR-IORS!!! 🙂

    JOOO-EEY!!! JOOO-EEY!!! JOOO-EEY!!! 🙂

Great news for both – best of luck to other Warrior NFL hopefuls!!!

  27. bowwar May 2, 2015 2:52 pm

#25 — Hopefully, we still get Taylor…Lot’s of possibilities depending on folks qualifying and getting their AAs in the JCs. We should know by the end of this month if we have some late NT transfers. I’m still not convinced we have our PK position solved…

  28. kapakahi May 2, 2015 2:56 pm

    #27,

    Yup…….wide right today.

  29. kapakahi May 2, 2015 2:59 pm

    #25,

UH definitely still doing some very late Class of 2015 recruiting.

  30. Tempmanoa May 2, 2015 3:50 pm

Anyone see how the QB’s have been doing today and the last few days? Curious to see if Wittek is improving.

  33. z May 2, 2015 4:40 pm

Agree with 24. It was earned.

  34. kapakahi May 2, 2015 5:29 pm

    #30,

Wittek looked good……but still threw a pick……while Woolsey looks improved……..way smoother……less mechanical……compared to last season.

  35. seewhy May 2, 2015 6:01 pm

Alright Joey! You made it into the big league.

  36. seewhy May 2, 2015 6:05 pm

And congratulations men’s volleyball on EARNING the at large bid. Still not too optimistic about the team though after losing last 3 out of 4 games. But none the less, I will be screaming at my tv/computer screen as always. GO BOWS!!

  37. 3-Prong May 2, 2015 8:04 pm
