“The Huskies defended a stunning 97 plays against Hawaii — tied for the most plays run by a UW opponent over the past 30 seasons. (Coincidentally, BYU also ran 97 in the Huskies’ Fight Hunger Bowl victory last December; in 1985, Cal ran 98 plays in UW’s 28-12 victory in Berkeley.)”

And considering Petersen played a blue uniforms with a blue field, I am glad he isn’t complaining about getting treated unfairly as a visiting team …

“It probably goes without saying (but we’ll say it anyway): Defending that many plays is no recipe for success. The temperature on the field at the start of Saturday’s game was approaching triple digits on the field, and the Huskies’ sideline was facing directly into the sun for the first quarter-plus. That’s not an attempt to make excuses for the Huskies, but the defense certainly seemed to settle down once the field was covered in shade.”
