Most of the comments posted today were of sound reasoning. Unfortunately a bad situation for Joey today might have a positive influence on others in the future. Don’t Drink and Drive! That message has to be instilled in all of us. Young and old.
Although this mistake cannot be taken lightly, it should not be the end of the road for him. He still has a lot of football and non-football future left. Give him an appropriate punishment, counseling, and let him continue on with his life. He made a big mistake however it should not end end his dream but require him to make a positive adjustment. He is still a very humble, talented, young man and like all our sons and daughters, with life lessons still being learned.
With that said……Wow! What a great win.

while an undergraduate and under age, we did a lot of drinking and left the bar drunk

then we stopped at Varsity Bowl – very few people bowling – many gutter balls – management finally kicked us out and we staggered up University Ave to our dorm

don’t know why I did this cause I hate to be dizzy and puke my guts out – yet, this was a choice and luckily nothing happened

stopped drinking after I drank 1/2 bottle of Chivas at my friends “condo warming” party – Mrs A-House was 6 months pregnant with Midori – remember stopping for gas in Kalihi – don’t remember driving home – Mrs said I got up several times to puke and she did nothing except think “good for him” – next morning I was shaking saying to my self, “you stupid ass – what if I got into an accident and lost Mrs and baby Midori

I WAS VERY LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Curious if Iosefa was on pain medication due to this injury at the time of his arrest. A little bit of alcohol and prescription medication can be a bad combination.

Not that I’m excusing anyone from driving under the influence, mind you.
