All I want for Christmas is for our student-athletes to graduate from college, not get hurt when they compete, enjoy their college years & involvement in their sport, and to be successful in whatever they do after college.

I don’t care who they play for. It’s only a game. Life is not.

Mele Kalikimaka kakou!

Former UH Athlete Stadium @ Manoa is gonna have to wait a little while longer. oh well, I least I had a shot at the jackpot.

If you are in any other state, then college football fans from that state don’t care if for example an Arizona prep player goes to Nebraska or wherever. Their allegiance is to their alma mater or the college team(s) that they root for. This isn’t to say that we don’t wish them well because they are from Hawaii but we don’t really discuss about them in a UH football forum.

Repeating myself again – sorry but …

He plays for Oregon, not for Hawaii!
He plays for Washington State, not for Hawaii!
He plays for Notre Dame, not for Hawaii!
He plays for Southern California, not for Hawaii!

He may be from Hawaii, but he does not play for Hawaii!

If he does well at his school, there would be some hometown pride in his success, but not as much as if he were playing for Hawaii.

If he went to a school like Stanford, Washington, or one of the Ivy Schools, very understandable – great scholastic schools.

But should he elect to go to a school that is the same academic-wise as UH, I shake my head – auwe!

I remember (sorta) of a guy who went to Notre Dame prior to Te’o and never heard about him since. I heard about the guy from St. Louis who went to BYU, and never hear about him since. But I do remember the Nogas, the Ah Yuens etc though years have passed – THEY ALL PLAYED FOR HAWAII!

People all over the mainland love people from Hawaii. That goes back way before manti was born.

Last year I went to a game, He is a legend there. And because I am from Hawaii the way people treated me was like I was family, just because we are from the same state.

Prior to the girlfriend saga, everyone in the Nation was falling in love with him. Apparently people fogot about the fans buying leis and waiving them around and holding up the number 5 for him!

Manti did do something difrectly for Hawaii, he showed the local kids that there is nothing to fear. He went to one of the most prestegious academic and athletic schools and became a star. Every person there that talked about him did it with pride and did it with ALOHA. If that is not doing something for Hawaii and Hawaii fotball I’m not sure what is!

And to question if I support the program I can certainly back up how and to what extent. I am fortunate to have attained a degree and play for the University. I am indebted and always will be. It is okay to have differing views. As I said I prefer to be contrstructive rather than destructive….this in time, sooner than later will prove out to be a positive thing. I do my homework before sharing my opinoins simple as that—-Go Warriors!!!!!
