Their angle to make plays were just bad and there seem to be some confusion in help coverage on their part. I am no expert but it sure looked like they were out of sync… and their tackling technique still needs improvement.

I will say that the tackling by the defensive front 7 was much improved over what we saw last year. No more running into the opponent and expecting them to fall down tackling. Our guys were doing a much better job wrapping up.

Oh, if ever there was a time when names in the back of jersey was needed, it was this game. The announcers just butchered the names.

Coach Chow is really bringing a higher level of professionalism and expectation of players personal performance to the team. The selfish “I” is definitely absent in this team effort. Refreshing.

Probably hard to tell in the low corner end zone we stick you in but we actually sometimes boo the 2 point fakes.

Coach Chow’s methiods are well known. I wa sitting with the USC player families during the game and was entertained and irritated by a “knowitall” young fan behind us who commented loudly all game long. He called many of the Hawaii plays before they happened. He was also from Tenn. and was obsessed about Mike Edwards.

That part was especially irritating but in the end I was proud of Hawaii… Land of second chances. Believe in the kids. Help them, encourage them get up again when they fall.

Go Warriors!

Kind of got to know Coach Chow privately when he was at SC. He is a great coach and human being.

Here’s how Chow thinks:

His 50/50 run pass really only happens because we would be up and he runs at the end of the game (other than the Bush/LenDale White era…not that it exists anymore)

Other teams run to establish the pass. He passes to establish the pass.

He likes to throw wide short passes to spread the defense. Then he runs, then he passes to attack the seams in the D. We saw that in the 3rd quarter.

Give him time to recruit a big beast TE with hands that can run and running backs that catch.

The quarterbacks will keep coming.

He is the master at 2nd half adjustments.

The Warriors are gonna be great and fun to watch.

it is not same smell different crap.

P.S. SC fans hate the stupid 2 point fakes, too.

Vacay was awesome… Great family time, CC time with wafan and Izzy, seeing our buys play well in the most intimidating (but not really hostile- this place was not afraid) venue for their first game, meeting Chancellor Keith and seeing Rich and the Tsai-ko tour ccord in the crowd at the Rose Garden UH Gate…enjoying the intensity of the USC traditions and amazing student spirit (sure helps to have the field close to the campus!).

The best part was about the kids.

Highlights- being with my friends the Markowitz’s to see Abe take the field again after 2 years of injury rehab, meeting Schroeder, Edwards and Iosefa ohana and catching them in video… And watching our boys play hard with minimal injuries and sillyness.

Now I feel good about the Warriors and this season.
