What can a person advise in relation to your own set up you created couple of days previously? Every constructive?

Maybe as a defensive coorodinator under JJ. He later inherited the June Jones offense and some of JJ’s coaching staff. Yes, there was some winning spill over in the short term. You didn’t notice how things started to go downhill. That last season was tremendously embarrassing. NOW WHY DO YOU THINK HE GOT FIRED?. Most UH fans in the community wanted to get rid of him. The Athletic department wanted him out. The powers that be behind the scenes had to make him an offer to take half a years salary as a buy out. In the aftermath their former QB (I think his name was Gray) said that “I knew it was coming” ,because Mac was not showing up on the practice field.

Sometime before the beginning of his last season, he said that he was doing something different. He was going to coach from his office. He let the on-field coaching mostly to his assistants. I guess they in turn reported back to him and he’d watch films.. I suppose this is what they do at some big time schools but we were not there.

You seemed to be mesmerized by the fact that Mac had a down to earth personality. Some characterized him as a player’s coach; a real father like personality. If you think he was so damn good why hasn’t some other school picked him up? LOL! This was his first job as a head coach and it bared his abilities to coach. When he left he sobbed to say I’m sorry. I hope some other school in the Mountain West would pick him up as a Head Coach. Maybe then we could get a Win here in Hawaii!

There seems to be some people like you who live him for who he is as a person but not for what he is as a coach.

Late hit out of bounds…roughing the punter…personal fouls. These are self-descipline issues i.e. coaching issues.

Second down…Iosefa. Third and long…pass. Iosefa is a best, no doubt about that but to be so predictable had SDSU stacking the box. I thought play action might (sigh?) work about now. First play action pass Moleni is about as wide open as someone could be due to the SDSU safety bit hard on the fake run. Then I wondered why doesn’t UH try to use Iosefa as a receiver on a screen or shovel pass and he takes a middle screen for a touch. Gee, if a regular joe who loves football like me ( and many like you guys) could wonder how come Coach Chow with hundreds of years of experience in this game too so long to come around?

It’s because of tradition. The nicknames of the teams are part of that traditon. Also, can you imagine a coach coming in and saying,”I don’t like the name Ducks, let’s change it.”? Has this happened at other universities? Stanford did sort of a change many years ago – they “removed” the bird cardinal and said the color cardinal represents Stanford. Heck, even Oregon started as “Webfoots” and, many years ago, changed to Ducks. I’m sure there were protestors then and they don’t attend events because there in a far better place than Autzen Stadium.

Case in point USC. Lane Kiffen replaced. Complete turnaround in the mantra if the team. Similar circumstances here. Chow and staff are not the right choice to continue. They find a way to LOSE !

I don’t think it is just going “o-fer” that is making me sensitized to it. Clocks run when they should be stopped. Blatant interference is not called. In the Stanford – USC game, the announcers called into question a measurement that gave Stanford a first down. While there was no official review, the measurement was replayed on TV and it seemed to clearly show that Stanford was short by a few inches. I can’t see how that was an optical illusion.
