As you know, Megan Huff’s defection to the Utah Utes killed Hawaii’s season.

My goodness, it must have been hard for the Delaware transfer to play under the considerable shadow of Elena Della-Donne. But even Big West basketball seemed to have proved an uphill battle for the 6’3″ center. There is always next season. But for now, she is on par with Rebecca Dew.

My theory as to why Huff left: Huff couldn’t figure out why she was backing up her volleyball teammate, whose only attribute was being tall. And when she saw that Coach Beeman recruited another center, she pulled a Shamberger(who was upset when Coach Arnold signed up Rodrick Bobbitt) and worried about playing time.

My main takeaway from watching Huff was that her missed shots didn’t airball, or hit the side of the backboard.

At women/men doubleheaders, I hear incredulous grumblings from people who obviously are not used to low mid-major women’s basketball.

This is not the Golden State Warriors, and that’s fine with me.

Anyway, the point of this long, rambling post is that UC-Davis upset Utah on Utah’s home court.

I’ll be rooting for Huff next year because I’m too old to be rooting against student-athletes. Even the narcissistic Issac Fleming, who is under the delusion that he is playing in a major conference.
