My opinion about how good Coach Mack is, vs. Gov.

I gotta tell all of my friends in Tsaiko land how very disappointed I am that Gov. Lingle neva go to the big meet . wtf, Gov Palin attended.

Everybody get plus and minus. dat wuz a minus. imho. she might as well have shot Duke in da foot. kinda like a Plaxico defense, i stay thinkin. “somebody wen put da loadede gun in my pocket and squeeze da trigga.” Gov’s excuse fo not attending reminz me of a babuuza spin.

i appreciate Coach Mack for not thinkin we idiots and gives us the straight talk express. Good job Coach! Now, get da Warriors ready for one full on scrap Saturday! Main thing is one great effort by players and coaches! all 4 quarters!

The list of players for the Hawaii/Polynesia vs Mainland Bowl was released. Looks like they were able to get a lot of good players to come out. It will also be the first look at Corey Nielsen. I wonder if the other players being brought in from the mainland have committed to schools already?? This is going to be a good last minute recruiting tool for UH. I hope there is a huge crowd that can sway some of these young men.

Sadly, as a sometimes employee of a district in San Diego, I can believe it. Then again, accounting is always questionable as last year I received double pay for a pay period that I wasn’t employed. Kind of hurt to send the check back…especially since they never realized their mistake.

This is for wafan–can you believe that a San Diego calculus teacher cannot afford the copy costs for his tests so he’s selling *ads* on his exams?

Tom Farber gives a lot of tests. He’s a calculus teacher, after all.

So when administrators at Rancho Bernardo, his suburban San Diego high school, announced the district was cutting spending on supplies by nearly a third, Farber had a problem. At 3 cents a page, his tests would cost more than $500 a year. His copying budget: $316.

“Tough times call for tough actions,” he says. So he started selling ads on his test papers: $10 for a quiz, $20 for a chapter test, $30 for a semester final.

About two-thirds of Farber’s ads are inspirational messages underwritten by parents. Others are ads for local businesses, such as two from a structural engineering firm and one from a dentist who urges students, “Brace Yourself for a Great Semester!”

Principal Paul Robinson says reaction has been “mixed,” but he notes, “It’s not like, ‘This test is brought to you by McDonald’s or Nike.’ ”

To Farber, 47, it’s a logical solution: “We’re expected to do more with less.”

The National Education Association says teachers spend about $430 out of their pockets each year for school supplies. This semester, Christine Van Ruiten, a teacher at E.C. Reems, a charter school in East Oakland, has spent $2,000. She scours Craigslist for free supplies and posts requests to DonorsChoose.org, which matches teachers with donors.
