Sorry but a 30 day suspension is just a slap on the wrist. A 60 day suspension would really make heads role. Revenue from football supports women and minor sports at U.H. The school needs wins to pack the stadium and financially support the athletic department. Mack is a great coach, but watch what you say when it is recorded and played back a thousand times.

I think the worst is over for Coach Mack now. I’m still 100% behind him and I’m confident he’ll make the most of his second chance.

I hate to say it but it could’ve been worse. On the bright side, he’ll become a better person for this experience, and could also help benefit his team (no more trash talking, needless celebrations, more pure focus on the game and playing for the team and the state)

i believe all sanctions came from Donovan, he forwarded his findings and his recommendations to Hinshaw who then accepted his decision.

It’s my opinion that the Chancellor over reacted on the punishment…especially since it was inadvertent and a first-time occurence.

pomai….in this case. coach mack is not only the leader of our football program but the leader by his example. and that day he did not lead by example as his example was not to be duplicated.

he represents all of us as well. i am sure his intent was not as it turned out to be but in his attempt to deliver some levity it backfired. so many other words could have spewed from his lips, “girlie, sissy, cute, etc” and he would have been okay.

but, in any event his penance was too severe i thought. it almost leads me to believe that it was mack who suggested the penalty imposed this day.

punitive damages of $184,000 are preposterous and absurd in this case. i realize some kind of monetary hand slap was due but not this much.
