UH needs to clean house on this fire Amanda if this was a private company she would have been history. But in Hawaii’s government we promote those who cannot perform. If she was an ex soccer player this is bad year for Hawaii and soccer.

I figured I’ll share what I posted on Brian’s blog… I’ll sneak out from lurking these past years and say my peace.

I heard on the Sports Animals, that it was reported “Amanda Patterson ‘self-reported’ UH MBB without informing anyone associated with the team to the NCAA”. Looks like personal feelings was the source of this “self-reporting” and that the outcome she wanted was the dismissal or at the very least damage to the MBB team and collaterally the Head Coach. Remember people, that not only does Gib get hurt, but his family and the players, all over “personal differences”… So sad… I didn’t want Gib to be our coach, but to deliberately hurt someones potential livelyhood? Despicable! Even to go as low as threatening a student athlete, with losing his senior year, so he has to report what she wants…

The last thing any sane institution would do after all of this would be to “promote” your Compliance Director.

Telling colleagues she will not lift a finger to help the basketball program is derelict of duty & blatant immaturity, in my view.

If Hawaii appeals the NCAA sanctions, raising the compliance officer position to an assistant athletic director should be positive. But making that person Amanda is like spitting in the face of the NCAA. Disciplining and reprimanding Amanda and requiring that she take a course in athletic management and professionalism might be a good thing to do if we are promoting Amanda.

They’re still alive and kicking.

For the record Under Armor is growing at a pace never before seen in the industry. That is a fact you can check it. Although Nike is the giant including global markets Under Armor is not even in Europe yet-The H-Zone appears to have been losing money before generating a 20k profit. Merchandise from the H Zone and the Stan contribute profits directly to UHAD. The bookstore only pays royalties on trademarked merchandise-it is a paltry sum and contributes little to the UHAD. Regarding merchandise from Walmart etc. you get what you pay for. I have ordered and purchased about 2500.00 from the HZone. Staff has been great service great-the polo shirts wear like iron and some of them are over 5 years old and wear/look like new-regarding this latest issue with MBB. In Illinois where I reside the issues at U of I and Dupage Community College(largest in Illinois) would make UH look like a well oiled machine! My support for the school and the Football program will never be negatively impacted-Go Warriors!!!!
