met Shane after a bowl game in which he threw a int. for a td after the db hurdled over him. He was laughing at his play and took things for what it was.
I’m 5’10…maybe 5’93/4 now but I stood eye to eye with him. He has a great family and support system.
A great young man. Wish the best for him and his family.

Yup-while niko was the more explosive athlete between him and Al, Al was a much more symmetrical athlete as applied to football–very smooth, without losing strength and power.

Sort of unfair to place anyone’s name in same sentence as niko. For the newer generation of folks, it may seem we are embellishing superman feats on his athletic ability, but I saw him up close over a 6-7 year period. Once saw him at a track meet win the shot, and then run in the finals of the 100– a race in which mike akiu was the eventual winner–but Niko was not too far behind. You need to remember was a consistent 4.3 guy– but niko was a pure freak athletically.

Great power – often moving the whole pile 2 to 3 yards all on his own.

That kind of power makes me think he’d also be a great nose guard for depth or on different defensive alignments. That said, I hope they do give him reps at RB as well – he WOULD be a great blocker or ball carrier, particularly in power situations.

#34 – Saw that game too! Good for Shane – he’s definitely got it going on in Arena Ball. Is he “tall enough for the NFL?” He took charge of the game today.

Threw the game winning TD with 2 secs, down by 5. Think he had 10 or 11 TD’s today for a come from behind victory.

Itai was quick, tough, and the ultimate technician-smart heady player.
