I was under the impression that UH had a much larger athletic budget than Boise State. Also didn’t realize they are receiving over three million in taxpayer support.

The numbers you provided have Boise State’s Athletic Department budget for 2009-2010 at around $28 mil…and UH’s Athletic Department budget for 2009-2010 was $35 mil. That is a big difference.

Boise State’s Athletic department gets $3 mil in support…UH’s Athletic Department gets $5.74 mil in direct support from Upper Campus and $4.8 mil in indirect support, which comes out to over $10 mil in tax money. I am just going by the number that UHAD reported.

Boise State’s budget also includes construction and maintenance of facilities. If we counted in the tax dollars spent on the maintenance of Aloha Stadium and other facilities, UH’s number would be much higher.

The UH commercial with the singing and dancing kids delivers exactly what a lot of that particular demographic wants — music, dancing, life outside the classroom. And, it keeps a quick pace just perfect for their short attention spans.
