I agree with your post #132. UH’s academic advisors do what they can, but in the end the students have to be responsible for themselves. It does help to have more academic advisors and tutors, but UH doesn’t have the money that big-budget programs have. It shouldn’t be a surprise that creating a big academic facility and hiring a lot of advisors and tutors improved the GPAs of athletes at other schools…that is how the BCS programs responded to the APR requirements, and I cannot criticize them for helping their athletes (all men and women benefit, not just football players) do better in the classroom.

Didn’t UH has a computer lab donated that was closed the entire time under HF? That type of thing really doesn’t help the students and is such a waste of resources.

Here is an example of bigger programs having an advantage over UH. The program sure could use more academic advisers (and “clearing-house” people) to help the student-athlete. But in the end, it’s still the student-athlete’s responsibility to take care of the classroom business. 😐
