NCAA is controlled by the now P5 conferences – why should they “dump” on their kind/big boys?

some day an energetic young lawyer will challenge the NCAA by filing a “discrimination” action for their flagrant disciplinary practices and there are mountains of examples – me likes “Federal” discrimination action because it can open the entire NCAA to scrutiny

Both are proven winners at their respective schools.

When Price abruptly departed the reasons that were given were that the coach was leaving for “personal reasons” (where some reasoning’s circulated that the coach was having marital problems) . I read it here on this blog…the reason given by the author, then, seemed emphatic. At that time it didn’t make sense.

Tonight I read that ST let on that- “There probably were a lot of grounds for dismissing a recent offensive coordinator.”

That makes more sense than the initial reasons. Hooray, hooray. The truth came out of the closet.

What I can only speculate, and how it might tie in with Prices departure, is remembering a public report made by Jay that he made sometime around May 2013, denouncing unauthorized expenditures by (a) member(s) of Chow’s coaching staff. Nothing ever publicly became of that wrongdoing. Or did it? Perhaps the UHAD handled this situation internally.

The reason for speculation is that the day after Jay’s report I saw Price, along with Jones, carrying a flat screen television and walking towards the entrance of
Walmart (as if to return). Maybe this is coincidental. Maybe it doesn’t have anything to do with anything. But I wouldn’t eliminate something by the aforementioned lines that may have been the catalyst for Price’s departure.

Price by his nature, and what I can see and profile, is that he really is the type of person that is yeller at practice, full of energy. But what stands out is that he seemed to be the type that also beats to his own drum, goes in his own direction type, and is a leader not a follower type. I think both him and Chow coexisted, tolerated each other even though Price added such a polar presence to Chow’s staff. Gathering all that’s been discussed about Price’s departure, and adding my own intuitive thinking, I think Price crossed the lines, violated a rule, maybe even Chow’s rule and was released.

I think there was less than 2 min. left. Think Tomey was coach or was Wags. In any case, hire him as an AD. Im assuming he has sales skills like a marketing guy needs. Good idea from earlier blogger. Also, the MAIN REASON we have not been creative on the O side of the ball is because we have no one that can be creative PERIOD or someone may be shunning anyone that did have diff ideas. U thinking what Im thinking?

On one hand all the people involved in the infractions are gone via self punishment… On the other hand is that the NCAA may still elect to smack UH hard to show that they are tough on rule breakers vs the mid-majors/have-nots, meanwhile in the background, let big name programs slide by that have major obvious infractions.

Notice how UNC’s massive academic fraud has been pretty much been swept under the rug already… Jimbo Fisher is the poster child for “Mr Lack of Institutional Control” for his handling of J. Winston’s numerous violations of NCAA rules, along with FSU code of ethics violations (which obviously doesn’t mean anything), and breaking laws.

I mentioned on the MBB blog that Tennessee (re: Bruce Pearl and Lane Kiffin numerous infractions) set the blueprint on how properly self punish and avoid major sanctions by the NCAA. UT self imposed about 20 very minor penalties. For example, they cut down the number of official recruiting visits they brought in…they voluntarily cut down the open recruiting period by a week or two… Little stuff that was easily worked around. The only major self sanction was firing Bruce Pearl… And that only happened because it was uncovered that Pearl had covered up players criminal arrest by saying they were injured. UT said they were prepared to fully support Pearl to the end until that info got out.
